Keepsake Classic: Black Walnut

Our Classic style box frame with archival keepsake mat. Your wall space is limited, so we custom designed these 6in x 8in frames to fit a 5in x 7in print with just a thin 1/2in white archival mat, a departure from your standard mat options.

Frame is crafted from Black Walnut trees sourced in WNY. Juglans Nigra, AKA “American Walnut,” is one of 70 species of walnut trees in the Juglandaceae plant family. Walnut trees are known for their hard, durable wood and the nuts they provide, which are rich in fat and protein.

Other Walnut plants (yes, trees are plants!) in the family include Hickories, Butternuts, and the English Walnut Juglans Regia (AKA Persian walnut or Madeira Nut) that produces the commercial walnuts we eat.

Dimensions:

• Opening: 6in x 8in
• Exterior: 7.5 in  x 9.5 in  x 1.5 in deep, can be used in horizontal or vertical orientation

Materials include:

• WNY black walnut wood frame with ash splines, glass, backing, and grooves for hanging.
• Hand finished with natural oils and wax to seal and protect the wood, no stains or dyes are used.
• White 6 in x 8 in archival mat fits 5in x 7in photo.
• Every frame is crafted with care from hand selected boards that preserve the curious details and life story of the tree they come from.
