Wild Style: Black Walnut

Our ‘Wild Style’ frame offers a front and center, cross-sectional view of ONE continuous strip of wood, showcasing the curious details and grain patterns of a tree’s growth, as it wraps symmetrically across each corner of the frame.

Juglans Nigra, AKA “American Walnut,” is one of 70 species of walnut trees in the Juglandaceae plant family. Walnut trees are known for their hard, durable wood and the nuts they provide, which are rich in fat and protein.  Other Walnut plants (yes, trees are plants!) in the family include Hickories, Butternuts, and the English Walnut Juglans Regia (AKA Persian walnut or Madeira Nut) that produces the commercial walnuts we eat.

Dimensions:

• Opening: 7in x 9in
• Exterior: 10 in x 12 in x 3/4 in deep, can be use in horizontal or vertical orientation

Materials include:

• WNY black walnut wood frame with Ash splines, glass, backing, and grooves for hanging.
• Hand finished with natural oils and wax to seal and protect the wood, no stains or dyes are used.
• Every frame is crafted with care from hand selected boards that preserve the curious details and life story of the tree they come from.
